Souper Salad is a pretty standard salad buffet restaurant. The salad bar has about all you would look for to pile on and then some. All the items looked fresh, including the honeydew melon was properly ripened (a rarity it seems). There were many choices in dressings, so you'll probably find something you like.
There were three or four choices in soups (which one would expect from the name). I had the Santa Fe Chicken which was quite good - a thick chicken chowder with a hint of green chile for heat.
The baked potatoes were cooked properly (sometimes restaurants undercook which is nasty), though not as big as I'd prefer.... I suppose you can keep going back for more - I'd rather just top one potato and be done with it. There was no sour cream with the potatos, though there was something in the taco bar that could have been sour cream, though it was thin and unlabelled - I just passed on it.
I think the taco bar and pizza are mainly there for kids who just have to have one or both -- if you're not going mainly for salad and soup, you've gone to the wrong place.
When you go, don't sit anywhere near the soft-serve machine. It's very loud when the compressor starts up. There are plenty of tables away from there.
There are plenty of more upscale competitors in the buffet field. Souper Salad provides the basics for a low price ($5.65 I believe) in a clean environment. If you aren't looking for carved meat, hot vegetables, etc, there's not much use in paying for them.
