We came upon Colors by chance. We were attending a play at The Live Theatre Workshop and needed to pick up our tickets early, so we stopped in at Colors for a quick dinner before the play started.
I thought it was going to be a smoky bar from the name, but there was a "no smoking establishment" sign on the door. Going in gave a pleasant surprise. It's a small restaurant with a modern decor, tables, and an attractive bar area. Black ceilings hide away and lamps in one corner are continuously changing colors. Decor around the other walls is colorful and elegant.
We were seated quickly and we chose our fast fare. The menu has everything from appetizers and salads to steaks and chops. We weren't famished but needed a quick bite before the theatre, so the three of us chose grilled cheese (yes really), patty melt, and a tuna sandwich with soup (soup du jour was cream of celery).
Our time limit had me concerned as it took 20-25 minutes to get the food from the time we got through the door. This was probably a more a matter of my anxiety than a slow kitchen, as there were a few other parties being served at about the same time. The service was very good, prompt and friendly. Iced tea was refilled before empty as was a soda.
The meals were well-prepared and attractive. Two of them came with fries which were the wide style and good and crispy on the outside, apparently made fresh.
The tab came to about $26 for the three of us, which I considered to be very reasonable.
It seems like a good place to stop in for a drink also without having to deal with noise and smoke.
Colors is located in a small plaza off of Speedway. It would certainly be easy to miss from the road if you're not looking for it. There is ample parking.
