I hadn't been to the former "Cork and Cleaver" for many years. My wife and I went on a Saturday night this summer. The place was practically empty when we got there at 6PM which we attributed to the Tucson summer driving people away. There were quite a few diners there when we left, so I suppose that 6 is just too early for the crowds.
We both started with the house salad. My wife enjoyed the house dressing. I had mine with pretty standard Italian as I don't care for the dijon mustard which seems to be getting into everything these days, including Jonathan's house dressing. The greens were fresh and varied. The tomato wedges were fine for commercial fare. There are a couple of bell pepper rings on the salad also (yellow and red).
The bread basket (actually a small bucket) had dark and white breads in it which were crusty, substantial, and tasty.
We each got Filet Mignon (6 oz and 8 oz), medium rare, which were served with a bournaise sauce (wine reduction). The steaks were fantastic, cooked just as we ordered, and almost melted against the knife. We both chose garlic mashed potatoes which were also very good.
For dessert, we had New Orleans bread pudding and Coconut Cream Pie. Both were large servings and very tasty, though I found the flavor of cloves in the pie to be somewhat offputting and wouldn't order it again.
The service was prompt and polite.
Total for two was $65 plus tip for the aforementioned items plus an iced tea and a Corona
