Gus Balon's Restaurant is a piece of true Americana, the likes of which most people under the age of thirty may not even understand. This is a throwback to a golden age that stands out amongst a city chock full of similar artifacts. Remember Liver and Onions and real fried chicken that doesn't come from a bucket? How about tender, moist pork chops and eggs fried in butter? Yeah, you'll need a 20mi bike ride to make up for the calorie overload, but its worth it. Gus Balon's fills my heart with joy as readily as the refills in a bottomless cup of coffee.

addendum: After having the fried chicken today for lunch I somehow elevated the status of this restaurant in my mind from near the top to hovering somewhere over the top. Get off your behinds and get in here and have some that fried chicken and some homemade rolls!!
