We'd been to Le Rendez-vous several times for dinner.

This night we had Lobster Bisque and Mushroom Salad to start. Entrees were Filet au Poive Vert and Beef Wellington. Dessert was an apple tart which we shared.

We had a bottle of Chateau Boutisse Saint-Emilion Grand Cru 2006 which had a distinct dark fruit (described to us as blueberry which I can go along with) flavor. Very smooth and a subtle oak flavor, it was a good choice.

The food was very good. I noted that my filet had some connective tissue running through it which a well-cut filet should not have. The Beef Wellington used the same cut of beef but did not have this issue. This is a small thing but at their price level I expect more attention to detail.

The Filet and dessert were flambeed table-side. The staff does a good job, but it's not a "show" and I don't think it really adds to the experience.

Ambience is good but not great. The front room ceiling looks like an awning which I guess is supposed to give the feel of dining outside - but it doesn't. We were seated by a curtain that separated the restaurant from the host station which is a good idea for visuals, but we could hear somebody talking on the phone through the curtain which was a minus. The service and dessert carts are left out between some empty tables which I find distracting and unappealing.

We got good assistance with the wine list which had plenty of choices that we were unfamiliar with, so the help was appreciated.

Service overall was good, though coffee ordered with dessert did not show up (except on the bill - where I had them remove it).

I rated 4 out of 5. While good, the restaurant hasn't really met my expectations for the price level.
